Emma Richards is a British violist British based in the North East of the UK and performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Emma completed her undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music before receiving a Countess of Munster Musical Trust award to pursue postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. 

Emma has released several chamber music recordings under the label Another Timbre, the most recent of which, Drifter, received a 5-star review in the Guardian. Future commitments include a second residency at Harvard University and a project to record a cycle of new works by UK composer John Croft. Emma is passionate about bringing music to healthcare settings and currently works as Music for Health Practitioner at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and as a Jessie’s Fund musician bringing live music to children’s hospices and SEN settings. She has recently completed a project working with asylum seekers in Huddersfield and with prisoners at HM Prison Leeds.
